Seen on the bay-a cheaper alternative? 8)

Funny I had been looking at these more modern options even without a shroud around the radiator I'm sure a pair of these would be enough. Having given it a lot of thought I have purchased this new kit from Josh at DPI: http://delorean.gostorego.com/new-produ ... grade.html costs about £220 delivered I think (thou not got it yet) as an Xmas present to myself! Partly to try it out and do a magazine write up on fit and finish Etc and partly because I think these are so much better due to the much lower amp draw on the car and partly as I think I need to change the A/C rad as well so thought I would do it all in one hit!

Though I note the Ebay ones listed above show as being a 'push' fan I would have thought you would need 'pull' fans?

That's the first thing I thought of when I seen the eBay listing.

Although I'm not totally sure weather our stock fans push or pull the air, I would imagine due to the space around the fans that its a pulling fan. Push fans are usually mounted the grille side of the radiator the same direction as the outside wind.

Mounting a pusn fan on the rear of a radiator that requires a pull fan will have obvious and somewhat dramatic consequences!

Never trust anything claiming to be aftermarket unless it's tried and tested.

The same fan kit is probably available for Bugatti Veyrons and Lamborghini Countach's alike!

Buy with caution...

A little while ago there was an ebay advert for DeLorean window winding handles.

The DeLorean has pull fans. Be careful when looking solely at the flow rate because that's only half the story. It's like saying they're 12V. Without a pressure drop you can't make claims on air flow performance. I'd also like someone to explain to me why the original fans are so apparently inefficient.

There is nothing wrong with the original setup in my opinion, providing your fan shroud is in tact, your otterstat works properly, and you don't have wiring load issues on the fan circuit, ie you have a fanZilla or an extremely clean wiring and connection setup.

It would certainly put the cooling system of an MGF/MGTF to shame, what with them usually requiring a new head gasket at low miles due to overheating problems!

More like a steam powered DeLorean in my opinion! ;-)

What I meant was that everyone complains about the excess current draw of the DeLorean fans. They convert electrical power to mechanical power and mechanical power to air flow and pressure. Where is the inefficiency that the "new" fans and motors "fix"?

Just floatin' that out there, I don't know the answer, and I agree that I've never seen a need to replace original fans Mr Green

In my case it's a bust surround (shroud) and a failed motor (though worked during the summer) so thought I would just replace the lot in one go.
