running without a bake disc dustcover - marwood82 - 14 Aug 2013

ive got a problem with the drivers side front bake disc dustcover.

its ended up dented and mis-shapen (long story, but the cars going up to Eds place in holland in a couple of weeks to get sorted)

the issue is that if i turn full lock to the left the dents are scraping on the brake disc. (its ok as long as you only make shallow turns).

im just wondering if removing it until i get it to Eds is a viable option? or is this a complete no no?

thanks

Simon.

I wouldn't have thought so. Normally these covers are just an added protection from stones etc getting jammed in the free-moving part of the wheel hub. As long as you're not driving over gravel etc at high speed, then i'd have thought as a temporary measure, there should be no harm in it. Only speculation on my part though. Not a definitive answer.

yeah, i was thinking the same.

also its not like i need it to protect the the disc from getting scratched as the dent in it has already seen to that.
