MGJ has not run for over 25 years. Re: Anyone seen this? - Rissy - 25 Jul 2013 Chris P Wrote:An old article with even older photograph. MGJ has not run for over 25 years. Interesting. Who's car is/was it? Re: Anyone seen this? - Chris P - 25 Jul 2013 MGJ 126Y was previously registered as AXI 1699 and appeared on the front cover of "Motor Makers in Ireland" when it was still owned by the factory. It was eventual sold to a young man in London, who being quoted over £5k to insure it in 1986 laid it up......where it was until I got him to show me about 10 years ago. We had to chop the plants down in order to get the garage door open! (It features in one of our old club mags.) Its a RHD Auto and at the time I owned its Brother......AXI 1698 also a RHD Auto. As far as I know it now resides in yet another garage, still in London and despite all my efforts, the now, not quite so young owner, has no intention of using or selling what was and is, his "Dream Car". Re: Anyone seen this? - Rissy - 25 Jul 2013 Sad isn't it. Re: Anyone seen this? - RobScott - 26 Jul 2013 its funny when people say they have their dream car, but yet its rotting away in a driveway or garden somewhere. I've experienced this a good few times with the aircooled VW's and also MG's. or they say, 'one day it will be worth thousands', but it wont, as they will be sweeping it off their drive in a few years time. Re: Anyone seen this? - Chris P - 26 Jul 2013 Well thats one thing about a DeLorean......it will servive neglect better than most cars. |
