Battery Terminal Bolts (ORIGINAL) - TheOriginalMrP - 19 Jun 2010

Hey guys,

Does anybody have a spare set of these?

I do not want to cut the original terminals off the cables

I do not want to fit a battery with regular battery posts

But one of the brass bolts that screws into the side terminals of my battery only tightens down so far then jumps a thread. It's definately the bolt at fault because when i swap sides its fine.

Thanks.

Ben

:?: Surely you mean when when you swap bolts its fine?

I had exactly the same issue, with tearing the thread of one of my bolts, just before Chirk. I ordered the last two from Ed's in Holland, and they arrived in super quick time. Cost a couple of quid each. I think Ed was awaiting a new batch of them when i talked to him on the phone the other week, so he should have them in now. I looked ALL over to try and find replacements in the UK, with NO luck what so ever (Tried Car company's parts depts, B&Q, Homebase and Motor factor outlets). So i would advise you not to waste your time, and just order from Ed.

They are a wierd thread, that is true. But perfectly sourceable from a decent fastner supply company - http://www.namrick.co.uk is who I use. I buy longish ones and cut them down. (and before anyone asks - I genuinely can't remember what it is  It might help to know tha thte same battery style is used on the Vauxhall Zafira)

I remembered that a Vauxhall, years ago, used to use the same battery terminals on a particular model, i thought it was the Sintra, or something, so i went there, and they tried looking up the part on their computer system, without success.

The thread on these bolts is very course, i think its like a 1.25 pitch or something. I guess if you have lots of time, and patience, and are not in a rush to use your car, then research could prove fruitful. I didn't have any of this, most of all time, i wanted LEX to go to Chirk so just took the easy way out, while i still had time to receive from Ed.

Being american, they're an impreial thread - summat like 3/8" UNC but that's almost certainly wrong!

That's it! 3/8" diameter. I remember seeing that on the Texas website.

Not sure about the length. But as i said, the pitch of the thread is course anyway. Over all, its a weird little bolt. ha-ha!

Re: Battery Terminal Bolts (ORIGINAL) - TheOriginalMrP - 20 Jun 2010

cheers guys. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't brass. The thread crosses so easily. It's actually the second bolt too because the positive side went bad 3 years ago and i found 1 long bolt which i cut down with the same thread and not brass. I'll be lucky to find another though so i thought i'd try and get 1 donated first. It's holding on there granted but not tightening up as much as i'd like before it lets go again. Cheers again. Got 2 of these for 40p in the end... not made of brass, but what the hell?

If anyone ever needs these, just let me know.

...Great price!

Are you GOING to tell us where from? Or is it a secret?

Re: Battery Terminal Bolts (ORIGINAL) - TheOriginalMrP - 18 Jul 2010

Not a secret.......

http://www.sasfast.com/

I did have to take my battery in and they were a little longer than our bolts, but a couple of washers between them and the terminal proved to be quite satisfactory.

Cheers
