I am so pleased with TomTom!!! - Outatime - 17 Jan 2007 I can't believe the range of maps TomTom offers now!! I just got maps of Hong Kong installed in my TomTom One and it works!!! The only turn down is that HK doesn't use post code, so input of road names is required. If any of you TomTom owners will go to HK in the future, you know who to shout at  From a happy TomTom owner  - Dan Howarth - 17 Jan 2007 Hi John. I've got a tom tom and i think its great too. Gets me absolutly to the door every time. - NickT - 18 Jan 2007 Yep, I got it on my works and personal smart phones. I got all my clients locations in separate POI's. Very nifty. NickT. - Outatime - 18 Jan 2007 NickT Wrote:Yep, I got it on my works and personal smart phones. Hehe, It's great isn't it? Have you got the speed camera database installed too? It's quite handy sometimes! Oh... and now we can travel down to Norfolk without trouble from my dodgy Palm navigation then  - NickT - 18 Jan 2007 Not yet, do you have a set of the speed camera files? pocketgps.com now want to charge you. Being a yorkshireman paying for things is not in my heritage! NickT. ps i remember that palm navigation thing taking us along the scenic route - Outatime - 18 Jan 2007 NickT Wrote:Not yet, do you have a set of the speed camera files? The most amazing scene was when the Palm saids "Turn left"/ "make a U turn when possible" when we were actually on a single way bridge! I will PM you about the speedy cam stuff  - NickT - 18 Jan 2007 Tom Tom is better than "Mrs T with a map" navigation. She doesn't tell me which direction to take, but she tells me "ooh you should have turned left back there" and pointing to the right. NickT. - tracey steele - 21 Jan 2007 i`ve just been out and got a tom tom it`s fantastic and quick to use i also found places abraod.i had a garman before it was big and not very good i`m well pleased - Chris Williams - 21 Jan 2007 janvdwouw Wrote:Just don't take them into Switzerland... I have read that this applies in France also. Chris - Outatime - 21 Jan 2007 Wow! Thanks for the reminder! But what if I use tomtom but had the speed camera POI turned off? - Outatime - 21 Jan 2007 Gosh, this is heavy! BTW, is radar and laser detector still legal in UK? - Chris Williams - 21 Jan 2007 Outatime Wrote:Gosh, this is heavy!Short answer; Yes! Chris - dmcdj - 22 Jan 2007 i do ahve a file of all the updates for tom tom if needed .... - Dan Howarth - 22 Jan 2007 Thats a bit cheeky then isn't it. Selling you a Sat nav that is illegal to use in most of Europe. I'm still gonna take mine to Le-mann. Just have to sucker it to something a bit lower down from the windscreen thats all. Last year we went with sat nav and radar detector. We didn't get caught but i was chatting to some chaps from Holland and they said one of their friends had his car impounded for having a radar detector. Cost him $1000 and a night in the cells to get his car back. Still if you drive a Viper you can afford $1000 fine. - Outatime - 22 Jan 2007 Dan Howarth Wrote:Thats a bit cheeky then isn't it. The sensor part and the control buttons are separate modules. And since the sensors are placed outside the windscreen, the reception for the radar signals were far better too! I guess that's the only option for locals of these countries which radar detectors are not legal. |
