Haynes Motor Museum, Car show. Sun 6th September 09 - Chris Williams - 04 Jun 2009 Copy of an Email sent to me, unfortunatly by PDF so this is the info from the website; Haynes International Motor Museum, Rare Breeds Car Show. Do you own a 'Rare Breed'? Then why not come along to the Haynes International Motor Museum on Sunday 7th September and show off your prized vehicle. Clubs or individuals are all welcome. We are looking for rarer cars, i.e., cars that were produced in small numbers, specialist vehicle clubs, emergency services, GPO Vehicles, specialist coachbuilders, micro cars and the rarer marques of Kit cars etc, etc. Take part in one of our competitions: Self judged concours, Curators Choice, Spirit of the Event, Furthest Travelled, and also take part in the Rare Breeds cavalcade on the Museum's test track. A fantastic chance to join other rare breed owner's and show off your prized posession! For an application form and full details contact Caroline Coombes at the museum or email: caroline@haynesmotormuseum.co.uk Haynes Motor Museum, Sparkford, Nr Yeovil, Somerset Tel: 01963 442797 Re: Haynes Motor Museum, Car show. Sun 6th September 09 - Guinney1971 - 04 Jun 2009 that sounds like a good day out I like going to that museum, there's loads to see - you'll often find me drooling over the 1929 Dusenberg they've got there - and the 'Red Room' is summat else I reckon you can stick us down for this - not sure if I'll be able to drive Flopsy tho, as I'll be 8mths pregnant by then! Re: Haynes Motor Museum, Car show. Sun 6th September 09 - Guinney1971 - 17 Aug 2009 Chris, whats the closing date for applications for this? We're tempted to attend, but take the Avantime rather then the DeLorean - the Avi is rarer in the UK then the De believe it or not! Just depends how things go, as Phill is in the process of selling his house so will need to devote some time to clearing that place out, but we'll know better nearer the time. How many Avantimes are there in the UK? Re: Haynes Motor Museum, Car show. Sun 6th September 09 - Guinney1971 - 18 Aug 2009 I'll have to check, Phill was on the Avi forum the other day, and there was a long list of all the cars registered with the DVLA. Out of 435 RHD models built (total production about 5000), 169 were actually sold in the UK, the remaining UK cars were Renault company cars and demonstrators. The remaining RHD cars went to places like Japan and Australia and other RHD markets. I think, theres about 200-odd registered with the DVLA from memory. I love driving Phill's one (he'll tell you once I've got the keys for her, there's no getting them back! ), she's such a lovely, quiet cruising machine, and powerful too. Gonna get a stainless exhaust system for her, they are less then £350 all in (cat's back), which is good value - also gonna get her converted to LPG - fuel economy on a par with the DeLorean at times Re: Haynes Motor Museum, Car show. Dunno Claire, That was all I got in the Email, not sure if there is any closing date. Chris |
