Earthquake anyone? - Guinney1971 - 27 Feb 2008 Hi All, well, did anyone else get woken up by the earthquake just before 1am today? For once, I was actually sound asleep (not been sleeping well cos of my shoulder), and it was only Phill getting up and asking me did I hear the furniture rattling that woke me up! lol. Next thing I know, the Budgies were going crackers in their cage, and the Degu's were squeaking too cos they were frightened. We wernt really sure what had happened, and went outside with torches - even shone them up to the roof, but the chimneys and slate tiles were all still intact. We went back in, and turned the radio on, and Janice Long was on reading out texts and emails from people who'd rung in to report what was happening where they were. Finally we realised we wernt going mad and that it was an earthquake. Anybody else wanna post up their experiences? - NickT - 27 Feb 2008 Earthquake woke me up.......... . . . . rolled over . . . . . . fell asleep again and snored. NickT. - MikeH - 27 Feb 2008 woke me up too, altho i had just gotten sleep and after that it took me awhile to nod off again but it was fun all the same. On the plus side it gives the news people a few days of headline news - Rottbott - 27 Feb 2008 I was already awake and at work. The building shook quite dramatically and my TV bounced up and down a bit. That was about it really. I thought it was a fat man jumping at first. - stunned_monkey - 27 Feb 2008 Didn't feel it here darn sarf but was on MSN with Rob at the time. We can confidently reveal that BBC News 24 took fully 12 mins to report it. - Chris Williams - 27 Feb 2008 was at work all night, and didnt feel a thing! not that far away either. Must be all the insulation around me! Chris - A Van - 27 Feb 2008 Damn I signed off too early and missed all the fun then..... - hana 5284 - 27 Feb 2008 and the wife told me i made the earth move for her wasn't sure if the aftershock would turn her on again so i went down stairs and had a good nights sleep in the delorean just to make sure she was ok you understand - NickT - 27 Feb 2008 NickT - tracey steele - 27 Feb 2008 IT WOKE ME UP FRIGHTENED THE BLOODY LIFE OUT OF ME, I SHOT OUT OF BED WONDERING WHAT IT WAS, SOME OF MY THINGS HAD FELL OVER CAT`S SHOT OUT MY BEDROOM ,THEN I REALISED WHAT IT WAS SO I WENT BACK TOO BED , I SOON FELL BACK OFF INTO THE LAND OF NOD - Tourettes Tony - 27 Feb 2008 my bed moved all over the place, oh hang on is this the earthquake your all talking about  TT - TheJoyofSix - 01 Mar 2008 I must have been woken up by the initial shockwave/jolt and found the house to be shaking and all its contents rattling about. My other half turned to me and said "What's happening?", to which I replied.... "Don't worry, darling, it's only an earthquake!" What puzzles me is how I have somehow managed to become an expert on seismic activity to the extent that not only can I recognise the occurance as an earthquake, but that I am also expert enough to realise it wasn't anything to worry about! |
