wheres the snow - Tourettes Tony - 01 Feb 2008 can anyone put some nice pics on here to satisfy me as i haven't seen any for years and have forgotten how nice it is TT - stunned_monkey - 01 Feb 2008 - Guinney1971 - 02 Feb 2008 I took some photos earlier from my hospital room of the snow coming down in Barnsley today - I'll download them and post them up tomorrow. - Rottbott - 02 Feb 2008 Driving home on the country roads, there was so much I couldn't see more than a few feet in front of me. It's worse than fog even. Ghastly stuff. - Guinney1971 - 02 Feb 2008 Here ya go TT, this was Barnsley, at about 11am on Friday Didnt settle though, and ten minutes later there was bright sunshine again! This was the field behind our cottage at about 10am today: but as you can see, its a gorgeous sunny day up here, so by the time the train went by just before noon, the field looked like this - the only bits left with any 'snow' are where the sun hasnt been yet. Any one else got any pics of the snow where they are? I was abit disappointed with how little we got here last night - Dan6457 - 02 Feb 2008 Are you sure you havn't been doing 88mph in flopsy? Those last two pictures look like you've gone back in time. What a good view! and a steam train as well! - Guinney1971 - 02 Feb 2008 lol, cheers Dan The two tracks across the field were done last week by our Landlords 'oppo' in his SWB Land Rover (a proper 4x4  ) - there was a broken section of the big oak tree just hanging in the branches, so he tied a thick boden cable to the back of the Landie, attached it to the tree, and hey presto the nice thick section of Oak Tree (must be nearly a ton in weight) came crashing down. What we didnt expect, was what happened next - he 'floored it' and dragged the bit of tree across the field - must have been doing about 30, it was so funny to watch - boys and their toys eh!! So, we set to the bit of tree that he delivered us with the chainsaw, and have continued to enjoy burning seasoned logs on the fires, absolutely free We've been burning it all this week, and reckon there's enough there to keep us going for most of this month too - it looks quite small in this picture, but the big section at the far end, that we've not tackled yet, is about 2ft across! The steam trains are cool, the Midlands Light Railway runs past the back of our house, they run pretty much every weekend and also throughout the school holidays http://www.midlandrailwaycentre.co.uk/English/home.html Perhaps a good setting for a DeLorean meet one day this summer? - Tourettes Tony - 02 Feb 2008 nice one claire it was only a smattering but im happy now, and i really must say what a beautiful view you have from your back garden, i must come up over the summer as i cant afford gettysburg now TT - Guinney1971 - 02 Feb 2008 no worries TT, you're welcome anytime you like, you know that I'm starting to understand the lingo up here now, so I can translate for you  - Dan6457 - 02 Feb 2008 I was up near Ripley in July for a motorcycle weekend. Some of the scenery up there is stunning, and some lovely roads to ride round on the bikes. - Tourettes Tony - 02 Feb 2008 yeah i may take you up on that claire and dan dont mention motorcycles im getting the itch again TT - Dan6457 - 02 Feb 2008 Me too! Mine has no MOT at the moment I need to finish rebuilding the carbs then I can get it on the road again, can't wait. - Tourettes Tony - 02 Feb 2008 what you got then dan TT - A Van - 03 Feb 2008 Thats too funny Martin.... brillant! - Dan6457 - 03 Feb 2008 This is my bike tony. Its coming apart this year to be painted because I've gone off the bronze colour. It was originally a Suzuki GS850. |
