any one know the bae bhp power or 0-60 - steve.s - 31 Jan 2008

hi

i think i asked before but i have that BAE single turbo to fit.

when up and running (with the hobbs switch and additional vac switch i think!) what would be the bhp and importnatly the 0-60 time?.

has anyone a working setup and noted the difference to US stock?

Installing an aftermarket turbo to an original DeLorean engine will always be a hit and miss affair. You may be able to get it as far as 200hp but it won't be reliable. 6psi is abut the point beyond which you'll start blowing injectos out of their holes, esp if it backfires through the intake (quite spectacular, and thoroughly dangerous as the injector carries on spraying fuel over the top of the engine). The hobbs switch solution to send the lambda system into "limp" mode is such a bodge IMO. You can achieve a better, adjustable enrichment by using the CPR's native function.

At some point, someone in the US did a big dyno comparison between all sorts of DeLoreans... but I'm blowed if I can find it now. I'm pretty sure it was Bob Brandys who organised it though the dmcnews group. Can't remember the results though, sorry.

I need to get mine rolling roaded. I wondered if thats an idea for a club event. An organised rolling road day somwhere. I know other owners club have done similar things where you each get 2 runs for 20 pounds or similar and get a print out with your results.

I would be up for that, if any one knows somewhere?

BTW the figure usually measured for transmission loss is 45hp on our manual gearbox.

you have to bare in mind that these figures are for a set up with non volvo gear ie lambda shut off and cpr and no change in ignition ( if the bae instructions are any thing to go by) and 160 bhp at the rear wheels is acheivable on a stock engine due to compresion ratio TT
