LED's In Binnacle. - Chris Williams - 23 Jul 2006 Hi have just removed my Binnacle to get it (along with the dash) recovered. Whilst in there I thought it would be a good time to replace all the bulbs with LED's. I had allready done the doors and A/C panel. The five for the illumination whent fine and look really nice with the blue tint  However I cant seem to get any others (warning Lights) to work. I have tried the LED's all ok and tried reversing them, I understand they are polarity sensitive. So what am I doing wrong :?: Thanks Group, C some of you Wednesday at Harpenden Chris - Daniel Shane - 23 Jul 2006 I have LED's in my binnacle. I have replaced them all apart from the battery light as that is part of the charging circuit and cannot be an LED. The Illumination ones are not normally polarised so they can go in any way round any work but the rest are. If you have them the wrong way round then they wont light up. Have you tried turning them around ? Have you made sure that both of the big connectors are fully pushed in and that none of the tracks on the circuit board that the connectors push into have moved or been bent ? - Chris Williams - 23 Jul 2006 Daniel Shane Wrote:I have LED's in my binnacle. Yes thanks Dan, I have tried turning them around and the origional bulbs work all fine so I guess the tracks are all ok. I was aware you had to leave the battery light one as it was, so had not touched it. still confused :? Chris - Daniel Shane - 23 Jul 2006 Strange, As long as the LED is round the correct way then it should work, it's as simple as that. How have you tested them Chris ? Did you use a multimeter or stick 12v across them and did they light up ? - Chris Williams - 23 Jul 2006 Daniel Shane Wrote:Strange,Tried them in the dash illumination, holes. :? - Daniel Shane - 23 Jul 2006 Phill Wright had a picture of the correct polarity of the LED's. I'll link to it so I hope Phill wont mind. - Chris Williams - 23 Jul 2006 Cheers I'll give this a try when I get a mo, probably Wednesday now. Thanks Dan. Chris - dmcdj - 23 Jul 2006 danny boy how much are the l.e.d the the fittings glen - Rich Hanlon - 23 Aug 2006 Quick Question on this topic - if you go for LED's in the binnacle, are they still dimmable? - Rich H - 23 Aug 2006 Short answer..... No - Chris Williams - 24 Aug 2006 Rich Hanlon Wrote:Quick Question on this topic - if you go for LED's in the binnacle, are they still dimmable? As above, the rehostat still works but only in the sence that the bulbs are on or off, no middle ground. 8) However the A/C panel is much happier for having the LED's in and the Led's from Martin for the binnacle illumination are the dog do dahs Chris - stunned_monkey - 24 Aug 2006 Chris & Suzie William Wrote:the Led's from Martin for the binnacle illumination are the dog do dahs Cheers :-) Slight hiccup in the supply lately but back in stock now. No, they're not dimmable with the orignal twiddler, but does anyone honestly use that anyway? - bozzzydmc - 24 Aug 2006 stunned_monkey Wrote:No, they're not dimmable with the orignal twiddler, but does anyone honestly use that anyway? Arrh!.... is that what that twirley round knob thing is supposed to do! - Rottbott - 24 Aug 2006 I used it once to sleep in the car with the sidelights on! |
