Door Lock Solenoids - Re-winding. - Barson - 24 Oct 2006

Hello

I took the opportunity, whilst I had my door panels off, to remove my locking solenoids with a view to re-winding them.

Does anybody know of a UK supplier of 20 gauge magnet wire?

thanks in advance!
Dave.

I have some spare reels in my garage I could bring to the NEC if you are going.

I bought mine from Farnells (Leeds) in 1/2 kg reels. One reel is enough to do 3 coils. There are 2 coild in each solenoid making 4 required.

The plastic bobbins the coils are wound on are quite brittle and prone to breaking but I think Phil (Wright) is looking into having a batch made in better plastic. Phil, correct me if I am wrong !
