They have dealer info for most of the 81s but only sporadic info for 82s and 83s. If it helps, that sticker was probably printed pre-Jan 2002 as that is when the Chicago area changed to 10-digit phone numbers with a (847) area code. RE: vin 11477 - Finally I am an owner - Dangermouse - 03 May 2018 Tristan, re our PMs - the guy on FB posted the following at the time. The car moved from IL to AL in 2001 - see the AL title with 11600. He found it locally in Oct 2017 and the guy was asking $10k, so presumably he got it for less. Up front, he said he was buying it to flip and sure enough he listed it for $15500 shortly after. I think these photos were at the POs house in Alabama, kid not included with purchase (presumably) and this is at the house of the FB guy who bought it (probably) I'm not sure if it went directly to UK or via another flipper You don't often see many complete $10k cars, so I was interested on where this one would end up. RE: vin 11477 - Finally I am an owner - TristanC - 03 May 2018 Thanks Dermot. Interesting to know where she’s been while stateside. I’d gleaned some info from the October post I saw on Facebook - but didn’t realise it has been in AL all that time. I guess the wiring damage occurred sometime after the 15k on the clock while in storage.... Tris RE: vin 11477 - Finally I am an owner - Dangermouse - 03 May 2018 "storage" RE: vin 11477 - Finally I am an owner - TristanC - 03 May 2018 (03 May 2018, 18:28)Dangermouse Wrote: "storage" Lol - well.... maybe RE: vin 11477 - Finally I am an owner - Chris P - 04 May 2018 At least these cars do "store" better than most..... Unless of course you have a rat chewing on your Flux Capacitor ! RE: vin 11477 - Finally I am an owner - TristanC - 05 May 2018 Me again..... Didn’t do much today.... although I was out there most of the day. Apart from a couple hours away to get my Jag MOTd. Anyway, today I finished the lights. The wiring was done, but the lights weren’t fitted. Basically all the headlight adjusters has rusted solid and the sprints has rusted badly. So I replaced all those first, remounted the light buckets and then inserted the lights. I also converted all the lights to LEDs, except for the front indicator markers, dipped and main. The sidelights in the new Hellas are LEDs.... Enjoy..... https://youtu.be/OKcee1yUSYM RE: vin 11477 - Finally I am an owner - Chris Williams - 05 May 2018 Clearly you didn't read the magazine article about LED's being illegal in our cars then Out of interest what bulbs did you put in the headlights? Chris RE: vin 11477 - Finally I am an owner - TristanC - 05 May 2018 I did read it........ but I can’t see it being a particular issue. Or indeed being prosecuted for something that makes a MASSIVE difference in the visibility from behind. I wasn’t too happy with the incandescent bulbs brightness compared with the LEDs. Besides, no one can tell that LEDS are in my brakes/sidelights....... Front headlamp sidelights were from eBay: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F232495969011 RE: vin 11477 - Finally I am an owner - Stuart Rees - 05 May 2018 Fantastic seeing all the lights working... great job! Where did you get the LEDs from, may I ask? RE: vin 11477 - Finally I am an owner - TristanC - 05 May 2018 (05 May 2018, 22:03)Stuart Rees Wrote: Fantastic seeing all the lights working... great job! The rear set were from DGo. They came with a new flasher relay. The front headlight sidelight as above, and the side marker and door lights from eBay: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F232739281820 And yes, it great to see things coming along now. I also started on treating the surface rust on the chassis. Thankfully it’s all solid under there - but needs addressing. RE: vin 11477 - Finally I am an owner - Chris Williams - 06 May 2018 Quote:I did read it........ but I can’t see it being a particular issue. It was only 'tongue in cheek' comment. I don't disagree with you. I mis-read your post, I thought you had put LED headlight bulbs in that's why I was interested. Anything to improve the lights. Chris RE: vin 11477 - Finally I am an owner - TristanC - 06 May 2018 I know Chris, no sweat. T’interwebs aren’t the best for conveying emotion In the video it certainly looks like the dipped beams are on, but they are just the led sidelights. Looks brighter in the video than in person. I re-read the club article and the associated external articles. But still can’t see an issue (whilst I know it states they are illegal) if good LEDs are used, in particular ones that have all round illumination (that’s what I used in the rear) then go for it. Actual dipped beams remain as H4 halogens - I don’t think technology for those is quite up to snuff - or indeed having the correct dispersal of light in a standard halogen housing, not designed for LED (or indeed xenon lights for that matter). Any hoo, my rear plastic cover above the rear glass was broken too.... repair failed and I don’t fancy spending near £200 on a replacement just yet. Also discovered the roof box starting to lift...... a bit annoying. RE: vin 11477 - Finally I am an owner - Chris Williams - 06 May 2018 Quote:Also discovered the roof box starting to lift...... a bit annoyingDon't worry about that, it's a lot easier fix than you think. Also gives you the chance to splather (technical term) the inside of the roof box with your preferred anti-rust compound. Chris |
