There busy trying to get clarification but seems it will be record prices at auction for both the DeLorean and Land Rover. I'm sure they will be happy with that, helps with the programme I suppose.

Morning all,
Yes I know the guys at studio 434. They wanted a Delorean on their books for hire and TV work so I said I'd be more then happy to add my car to the list for that and so we took the car along to their studio and had the shots taken.
Its going to a good home that RHD.

That's a huge amount...best part of £50k...it's a good omen if you already own one but a bad omen for folks like me who have (or had) big hopes of ownership...it looks like I entered the ring too late. I suppose I could go looking for another Rover V8 :?

It's still much cheaper to import, some hassle I know but surely not that bad.

I haven't given up hope yet...the import route seems to be the best option...has anyone on here done this or were most of the cars already back in the UK when you bought?
I was even considering a trip to the US to find one and then arrange to get it back...see it before I buy it.

I'd always planned to do exactly that i.e. go to the States and see loads of cars and pick one... in the end I ended up buying my car in Enfield from a fellow DOC member. Hard to think that was over twelve years ago. My God, has it been that long..... :wink:

I bought mine off a chap on http://www.dmctalk.org. It was a matter of good timing and an honest owner, really. I got a friend already in LA to head over and check out the car, and we negotiated a price and I purchased by the end of the month.

Mine was bought unseen off American ebay, paperwork took ages but a few hpone calls to the US and all was well. Sent me loads of spares too.
Back in those days import duty was ~5-10% (I forget) but it didn't attract VAT.

mine was off Ebay too, back when 'spares or repairs' cars (which mine was advertised as) were
cheap, paid just over £2800 for #2292 - but she was a wreck. However to date, I reckon she
owes me somewhere between £10-11k, and she's worth getting on for double that, so I'm happy.
My car was in San Diego btw.

I bought mine via DMC Talk sight unseen.
The import seems daunting, but it's actually pretty straight forward. I used (as have a number of others) Trans Global Auto Logistics to ship my car over, their UK arm handled the paper work and clearing the car through customs, all I had to do was pick up the car.
