- bozzzydmc - 10 Jan 2007 Cheers Dan ! - steve.s - 11 Jan 2007 hi i've not done a delorean wheel. but have MX5's. be a bit carefull using brute sudden force as the columns are collapsable. try pulling hard with very slight rocking. if there is a lock nut in the middle, shouldn't this be replaced. (mx5's should be as its a nyloc) steve - Daniel Shane - 11 Jan 2007 You can pull the wheel off but It's a bugger to do. Some come right off some need a little brute force. If you do go for the manual pulling method my tip is undo the nut in the middle but leave on on the shaft by a couple of turns. That way when the wheel comes off it wont smash you in the face !!!! However the puller makes the job easy. - ChrisS - 11 Jan 2007 Daniel Shane Wrote:If you do go for the manual pulling method my tip is undo the nut in the middle but leave on on the shaft by a couple of turns. Oh Dan your not suppose to tell em that, you spoil all my fun  - bozzzydmc - 11 Jan 2007 I thought Dan was speaking from experience there ![]() ![]() Thats the kind of 'clever' trick i would do .... - Daniel Shane - 11 Jan 2007 Not me but I have seen it done on a Delorean. The best one is on a Lotus Elise as the column is sprung loaded so if you forget to leave the nut on it flys off with such force it broke the poor blokes nose !!! - Pilot25dmc - 11 Jan 2007 Dont know who it was that said to hit the wheel with a rubber hammer...? Just like to say "GREAT TIP!!" I have been wrestling with my steering wheel for months and saw your post today, bought a rubber hammer in my local tool shop and in five minutes I had the wheel off, great work. |
