- Stuart Rees - 06 May 2008 We fitted one of the SES systems to a DeLorean earlier this year. Total cost was £815 for the exhaust £60 polishing £20 delivery £156 VAT £49 Studs, gaskets, nuts & washers Total £1100 If you can get the VAT back then that will help. Plus me and a friend fitted it in a couple of days. No need to worry about broken studs as you can use the 2 opposite (unused) holes. I am over the moon with how it looks and sounds, was definitely worth it. We insulated the right hand manifold with exhaust wrap to protect the starter & alternator wires but left the other side 'cos it looked soooo nice... Hey Ben, getting just the back box & bypass pipe is a good idea, definitely cheaper plus that is usually the only part of the system 'on show'. Hope to meet up and see it at a car show later in the year. Stu - bozzzydmc - 06 May 2008 Yummy What 'loudness' of back box did you go for ? - Stuart Rees - 06 May 2008 I was told by SES, that they only do the mid-range sound level now, but if you ask them nicely perhaps they can make them louder. Mine was on the shelf, so you may need to wait if they haven't any made. - Dan6457 - 06 May 2008 Thats a nice system I forgot about Vat, bloody government. I wonder if they would do one for cash :? The thing with just changing the back box and de-cat is it still has the nasty cast manifolds and the pipe running round the back of the engine which is all very restrictive. How loud is the mid-range compared to standard? - Stuart Rees - 06 May 2008 Bit OT for this section of the forum but here's a video of the Delorean to show how this one sounds, it has a nice growl to it, especially throttling when put in reverse (as you can hear in one of the videos) http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=wAi79vAguvM exhaust - Darren C - 06 May 2008 Hi stu, I gotta get me one of those! Did the price include the long bright gold/zinc support bracket for the rear box? Best Regards D - Dan6457 - 06 May 2008 The long bracket is standard Delorean stuff. - Dan6457 - 06 May 2008 Does anyone know how this compares to Ed Uddings exhaust? And how much is Ed's roughly? - bozzzydmc - 07 May 2008 bozzzydmc Wrote:Dan1986 Wrote:It may be of interest Ben, that exhaust I posted a picture of is £815 plus £60 if you want it polished. After a discussion with these guys today , they have indeed lowered the price now their R&D costs have been recouped, they are sending one out to me to bring along to EuroTec as a 'demo' and this will be for sale a special show price to the first person who would like it. Prior to that date i hope to have one fitted to my own car. They have now 'perfected' the exhaust note to a similar sound as per the video that Stuart has posted up. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=wAi79vAguvM .. along with the BHP increase across the range... i will bring along the Dyno figures from the one on my car as before and after figures - TheOriginalMrP - 07 May 2008 ... - Dan6457 - 07 May 2008 I see what you mean Ben. Unless you fit it yourself it does ramp up the cost a bit. Its just the system your going for still means using the standard manifolds and piping around the back of the engine, which is the worst designed part of the whole system. Looking forward to the dyno figures before and after. Does your car have any other mods already Mike, such as volvo dizzy etc? - bozzzydmc - 07 May 2008 No 'power' modifications at all... but it has had all new plugs, leads, dizzy cap , rotor and ign coil, air filter, fuel filter, fuel pump ...basically i could go one and on but i know it is running as good as it could on the 'OEM' style bits. A standard exhaust, especially the manifolds are extreamly restrictive, this is the bit i want to 'sort out', and speaking to people over the last few years , good gains can be made by fitting an exhaust system such as this. Im not 'power mad' by any means just looking for an improvement... and the exhaust note on the latest SES system is very nice at all speeds. - TheOriginalMrP - 07 May 2008 ... Bracket - Darren C - 07 May 2008 Dan1986 Wrote:The long bracket is standard Delorean stuff. Dan, That's not what I was asking. I know how much they are from DMCH, but didn't know if Stu got it in the price quoted? Best Regards D - bozzzydmc - 07 May 2008 Good point Ben... So can i ask what are you looking for in your new system is it just the sound ? |
