Penbrook Marine Services in New Jersey. They were $1700 better price wise than any other company for a 40 foot container

Wow, $1700 is a big difference. I think shipping has gone up since I imported a car last year too.
This may be the longest 6 weeks of your life.
But worth it....

Its great having those photographs of it being collected
I wish I had history like that with mine. Reading on the other forum the chap seems really upset to see it going and I can see why.

It has gone up again this week as well. It is costing me $2750 for a 40ft container from New Jersey to Dublin. Originally it was cheaper to bring the cars to Liverpool but in the last fortnight things changed and it is cheaper to come through Dublin. Not sure how the tax and duty situation changes though.

I am grateful to him for both taking the photos and also for his efforts in making this transaction go as smoothly as possible. From what I know he played with the idea of selling before but changed his mind. This time round he thought it was for the best as his time is limited due to the growth of the company he works for. I feel bad at the minute as I feel responsible for him being upset.

Just been informed today that the duty for importing a UK manufactured car is a fixed £50 as oposed to 10%. To Dublin I have to pay 10% so I am in the process of changing to the UK as it will save me £1740.70!!!

If you go to www.delorean.ie->homepage ->Technical section ->John Dore's Restoration, you will see the problems he encountered with sandblasting and chemical stripping.
I think it is a job that is a must as you will see where he removed plates on the box section to reveal the epoxy sitting in sheets inside and rust, while from the outside the frame looked fine in these parts.
There is also a section in the forum where he researched and compared the available methods of repair.
Interesting stuff..... well, if the lottery numbers or premium bonds ever
come up big time, Flopsy's chassis will be the next big job. Now that the
bodywork and interior are beautiful, I really want the rest of the car to look
the part too

Powdercoating is around another 350 to 400 euro, to make the chassis look the original grey colour.
So, you are looking at about 2250 euro, which does not include any necessary repairs to the frame (cutting out rusted sections, fabricating new sections and welding them in, etc). Nor does it include the labour cost for removal and reinstallation of the frame in the car - if you do all the work yourself you will save some money here, but if you were to pay someone to do it, it would cost around 3000 euros in labour due to the huge amount of work involved.
So, it would cost about 2250 euro plus the cost of repairs (anywhere from 200 to 1000 euros or more, depending on how much work is involved, or how much of it you can do yourself), plus around 350 euro for powdercoating and any mechanics fees on top also.

OK following the duty revelation the cars are now being shipped to Liverpool and will arrive on 7th May

I am arranging for Kinstown shipping to unload the container when it gets to Liverpool. When I contacted them they said this.
"Hello Matthew, thanks for your email.
That is strange...we haven't imported a Delorean for a good 6 months and then just last week we imported the first right hand drive one back here!"
