Fueling Issues - Looking for opinions on PPR
Posted by: jwrayth - 26 Jan 2020, 11:31 - Forum: 2 - Emission / Fuel Systems - Replies (24)

Long time without posting. I took a bit of a DeLorean hiatus after 2 years of continued issues. The Summer 2019 issues with my car I've only had time to start looking at now, so was looking for some advice. The problems seem likely to be multiple issues, but manifested as low power, warm start issues, stalling on anything but gentle acceleration, no power above 15 mph.

Work done on the fuel system in advance of the problems;

  • Fuel Pump replaced summer 2016, new in-tank filter screen and spring in pickup hose
  • New fuel filter, fuel lines (amongst other VoD work) Christmas 2017
  • No fueling issues summer 2018, but did have a sticky high idle
  • Observed hot-start issues in Autumn 2018, Accumulator replaced December 2018 due to this
Work/tests done since investigating the issue
  • New fuel pump fitted, as this was my initial suspect (2016 pump had gotten loud enough I could hear it in cabin)
  • Fuel pump voltage tested (12v on the money)
  • Hot-start o-rings replaced on PPR
  • Car holds 42 PSI rest pressure for 1+ hour, so accumulator seems good.
  • Fuel Pressure tested. 50 PSI control pressure, 59 PSI primary pressure
That last one led me to ordering some shims from the other club. I started with the smallest and worked my way up but was noticing zero impact until I had added 1.25mm of shims, at which point suddenly my primary and control pressure were reading the same, and went up to 70 psi (I stopped the test as it shot up suddenly, so I could release pressure via the drain valve).

So I've returned the PPR to it's original state other than the replaced o-rings and I'm getting the original values on my pressure tests again.

I've done some reading of the various forums (DeLorean and otherwise) and not found someone experiencing this issue so I thought I'd put it up for some collective input before I proceed. The shims having no impact on the pressure makes me think I'm not getting enough fuel to the distributor itself...

  Factory OEM Defrost switch wanted
Posted by: Chris Hawes - 19 Jan 2020, 22:38 - Forum: DeLorean Cars or Parts For Sale or Wanted - Replies (1)

I'm looking for a factory switch (not the reproduction units).

Does anyone have a spare working unit to sell?

I know of someone that has a switch minus the internals (so if you have the internals only, then I'm also interested)

Thanks in advance

Chris Hawes

Hey guys!

John from near York here.

Having been and owner, and a member for over five years now, I thought I should stop being so antisocial and get involved.

Have met some of you guys before at Really Retro Show in 2018.

Hope everyone is doing alright.

  Radiator refurbishment or replacement
Posted by: Rich Hanlon - 13 Jan 2020, 00:14 - Forum: 1 - Engine - Replies (7)

Hi folks, as part of my complete restoration of 6126 I need to replace the radiator as the side tanks are only held on by force of habit. Does anyone have any recommendations for a refurbishment place ideally in the Birmingham to Sheffield range?  Or is it more cost effective to bin it and mend it with a new one? Cheers Rich

British Motor Show, Farnborough 20-23 August 2020
Posted by: Chris Williams - 09 Jan 2020, 11:19 - Forum: Southern England - No Replies

Good Evening

I spoke to one of your colleagues and picked up your details following my visit to the Classic car show at the NEC and wanted to drop you some details about the British Motor Show, which i’m extremely proud to say is returning in 2020 and being hosted at Farnborough International in August.

The show is going to be like no other Motor Show seen before. Not only will the show be dynamic with some great interactive exhibits and displays but unlike other shows, we will be focussing on the past, present and future of motoring.

Our Classic and Owners halls will be filled with some of the great vehicles of Motor show from the past that have helped create car fans throughout the UK and we would love to invite you to join us and display at the show.

Not only will you be able to display some of the great cars your members have, but we can also offer dynamic involvement in the arena parades, display parking for your members and discounted club tickets to the event. In fact, i would be delighted to work with you to tailor your involvement to something unique.

Working with a team from within the automotive industry i’m really excited to be bringing this famous name back and it would be great if you were able to join us.

More details can be found in the attached pdf and i would be happy to jump on a call or head up and chat to your team about the show if this would help?

Hopefully you are able to join us, I look forward to hearing back soon.

All the best

Andy
